Last year, we launched our Onyx Scholars HBCU STEM Initiative; to expose students of color to exploratory areas of STEM. As a result, we extremely excited to announce our Creative Music Coding Workshop with the Santa Clara University's Laptop Orchestra (SCLOrk).
Event: Creative Music Coding Workshop with the Santa Clara Laptop Orchestra (SCLOrk)
Location: Stanford University's Dinkelspiel Auditorium 471 Lagunita Dr, Stanford, CA 94305
Date: Saturday, March 23rd, 2019
The Creative Music Workshop will be divided in (3) identical sessions of 60 minutes each, where students will be introduced to SuperCollider, which is a platform for audio synthesis and algorithmic composition, used by musicians, artists and researchers working with sound.
After the workshop, our students will have the opportunity to crystallize their coding knowledge; play alongside with the Santa Clara University Laptop Orchestra (SCLOrk) during an evening concert at 6pm.
Workshop will be led by Bruno Ruviaro, with SCLOrk players volunteers as teaching Assistants.
This workshop will allow local students to network and learn from the world's top audio professionals, so if you know a local student who loves STEM and has a knack for music or the arts, please spread the word about this workshop.
We are asking all student participants to bring their own laptops, please be sure to RSVP at https://bit.ly/2Fd4VcW.
HBCU Network is coming to the campus of Stanford University and we are truly excited about this collaboration at the Linux Audio Conference.
